Oscar was born in Union City, New Jersey, and raised in Chicago, Il, he has been teaching Ballroom and Latin dancing since 1991. He has an eclectic background, having performed professionally in many venues, including private shows, exhibitions, showcases, television, and for the Newark Revitalization Project. Oscar has competed professionally, as well as with dozens of students. Oscar coaches a dance team for the Union City High School, creating new and exciting choreography for the Ladies and Couples teams, exposing them to the art of Ballroom and Latin Dancing. This team has been invited to dance for city officials, local universities, and venues in New York City. He is the recipient of the Union City Artists Award in 2017. He has been featured in local media including the Bergen Record and Bride Magazine. Oscar has worked independently for the last ten years running a studio in Paramus NJ and is available for privates, groups, and special events.

Here we meet a man affectionately called Tin. He loved to laugh, loved to dance. He was the inspiration for this studio, and he was my grandfather.

My grandfather’s love of dance was passed through our family. He shared it with my father, who shared it with me, and now I share it with you. I have been teaching singles and couples to dance for over 30 years, specializing in Ballroom and Latin dances including favorites from my grandfather’s homeland, Salsa, Cha-Cha, and Merengue. We also teach Swing, Hustle, Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot, Samba, Rumba and many more! Lessons are taught in group, private, or semi-private settings - whatever is comfortable for you! Whether you want to learn to dance for personal enjoyment, to try something new, team building exercises or a special milestone like a Quinceanera or Wedding, Havana Dance Center is the studio for you.
All teachers at Havana Dance Center are certified teachers of dance and are committed to making your lessons fun and instructive. Classes here are affordable, with no contracts to sign! If you want to practice what you have been learning or simply enjoy a night of dancing, we have that too. We offer weekly daytime and evening socials!
